EUSEA Conference 2026: A Prestigious Event Comes to Luxembourg
A Milestone for Science Engagement in Luxembourg
Luxembourg has been selected to host the EUSEA Conference 2026, the annual gathering of the European Science Engagement Association, bringing together professionals committed to connecting science and society across Europe.
The event will be organised locally by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) and the University of Luxembourg, with strategic support and coordination from the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB), which led the successful bid to bring this major European science engagement conference to the Grand Duchy.

Positioning Luxembourg at the heart of the European network for scientific communication and engagement
The EUSEA Conference is a leading platform for professionals in science communication, public engagement, and citizen science. Each year, it gathers experts from universities, research institutions, museums, science centres, and innovation agencies to share best practices and explore new ways to make science more accessible and inclusive.
By welcoming the 2026 edition, Luxembourg is further strengthening its role as a hub for research, innovation, and dialogue between science and society. This is perfectly aligned with the country's strategic priorities in education, research, and sustainability.
It is also a unique opportunity to strengthen the country’s science communication ecosystem, foster partnerships across Europe, and inspire new generations to engage with research and innovation.
The conference will also generate lasting benefits:
Visibility for Luxembourg’s science engagement initiatives on a European stage;
Opportunities for collaboration between research institutions, educators, and communicators;
Impact on public dialogue around science, sustainability, and innovation.
A Collaboration Between the Local Hosts and the Luxembourg Convention Bureau
The Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR) and the University of Luxembourg will act as local hosts for the conference, ensuring a dynamic programme that reflects both the European and Luxembourgish science engagement landscapes.
FNR, Luxembourg’s key research funding agency, has long championed science outreach and public understanding of research through initiatives such as Researchers at School, Science Festival, and Researchers’ Days.
The University of Luxembourg will contribute its academic expertise and international perspective, as well as provide venues and institutional support for the event.
Together, they will welcome delegates from across Europe for several days of dialogue, exchange, and inspiration.

The Role of the Luxembourg Convention Bureau
Behind the success of Luxembourg’s bid stands the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB), which coordinated the proposal in close collaboration with the FNR and the University.
LCB played a pivotal role in:
Developing the bid strategy, highlighting Luxembourg’s strengths as a host destination for international conferences.
Connecting key stakeholders, from the scientific community to local authorities and event partners.
Positioning Luxembourg as a destination that combines accessibility, innovation, and a collaborative mindset.
Ensuring excellence, from venue selection and sustainability planning to delegate experience.
Their expertise and network were decisive in securing the event, demonstrating once again how Luxembourg’s integrated approach to business events delivers results.
